Hi! My husband purchased your book for me shortly after he decided to begin the Atkins’ Diet. I have been diabetic since January ’97, and did well on the traditional diabetic diet…for a while. I then “fell off the wagon,” and my sugars and weight went back to where they were when I was first diagnosed.

I started reducing my carbohydrates at the beginning of April, and just had a blood test done last week (mid-May). My fasting sugar went from 11.0 (198) in February 2000 to 9.0 (162), which is still high but better. My triglycerides, however, went from 5.22 to 2.38, which I was very happy with. My cholesterol/HDL ratio decreased from 3.4 to 2.9. I have also lost 11 lbs in the last month or so. I still occasionally treat myself, but I feel I am doing much better since lowering my carbs.

I will admit that I was rather skeptical at first, especially about the potential effect on my cholesterol, but the test results told the tale. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us.
